83 year old man impregnates a mentally ill woman.

AN 83-year-old Karoi man has been arrested for raping and impregnating a mentally ill woman (imbecile) after gaining entry into her bedroom at night on several occasions and later offering her gifts.

Liverson Kadema of Kadema village under Chief Mujinga in Hurungwe was arrested on May 14 after Oripa Machingauta (28) of Reponilla Farm in Tengwe implicated him as being responsible for the pregnancy after she was thoroughly questioned by her mother.

Kadema is charged with rape as her consent is not recognised by the State. The octogenarian would go to the woman’s house at night while she would also go to his house where she would receive gifts before having sexual intercourse with Kadema.

The matter came to light when her mother noticed she was pregnant.  She asked the daughter  who was responsible and Kadema was implicated.

Kadema was denied bail when he appeared before a Karoi magistrate who advised him to make an application at the High Court as he was facing a serious charge. He has now engaged lawyer Mr Mike Mutsvairo to make the bail application at the High Court.
