Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tinaye Matake confirmed the incident, adding police had launched a manhunt for the two brothers. “Josiah Chidembo (25) and Zebra Chidembo (23) are wanted by Masvingo police after they raped a woman on February 6. “The two brothers disappeared the very same night they raped the woman and we have since launched a manhunt for them,” said Inspector Matake. Inspector Matake said the Chidembo brothers went to the victim’s house around midnight to confront her husband about an extra-marital affair he was allegedly having with Josiah’s wife. “The Chidembos went to the house armed with axes and banged on his door demanding to know more about the extra- marital affair. “The victim’s husband opened the door, saw the axes the men were wielding and fled, leaving his wife behind,” he said. Inspector Matake said the brothers tried to chase after the adulterous husband but failed to catch up with him. “The Chidembos then went into the man’s house where they found his wife and ordered her to lie on the floor. “Zebra allegedly tied her hands, stripped her before raping her once,” said Inspector Matake. The woman made a police report the following morning when the husband returned home. “We have deployed our units to look for these two rapists. We believe that they have taken refuge at their rural home,” he said.
