A 20-YEAR-OLD MAN pretending to be a female prostitute soliciting for clients was yesterday arrested in Highfied.

Levy Chiwai was arrested at Whispers Nite Club, Gazaland Shopping Centre after one of his “clients” discovered that he was not a woman. The man, believed to be from Canaan, had attempted to hire Levy for a one-night-stand.

The unidentified man later hauled his “mistress” to the police station before he disappeared into darkness of early dawn fearing his own gremlins as a prostitute-picking sexual connoisseur. Levy told H-Metro that he stays at House No. 2045 Nyatsime, Chitungwiza. When H-Metro caught up with him soon after his release from Machipisa police station, Levy was clad in a black boob-tube dress, a maroon poncho, a pair of tight-fitting blue jean trousers and brown sandals with a black handbag.

He wore some make-up, was clean shaven and wore long stretched hair that was covered in a woolen black hat. Levy first gave H-Metro false names when approached yesterday. “My name is Levy Tendai Makanaka,” he said. Stranger than fiction; he confessed that he was a “prostitute” competing with other women for clients at different watering holes in and around Harare.

“I pose as a woman and some men hire me for service.

“It was unfortunate that the man who took me out for the night discovered that I was not a woman. “But it’s very rare for the men that I pick up to discover that I am really a man,” he said. But unlike them, Levy just kisses the life out of them when they are dead drunk and steals from them in their drunken stupor! How did the man discover that he was not a woman?

A Highfield man is understood to have discovered that Levy was indeed not a woman after he “mistakenly” touched Levy’s penis. That prompted him to investigate further until he discovered that Levy was not a woman. “It was proven that he was a man after being stripped naked. “Even at the police station he was proven wrong,” said his friend, who paid him the fine at the police station.

It was said that during the process of foreplay, Levy refused to take off his trousers, prompting his client to become suspicious of his sexuality. Levy said that his “client” pretended to be dead drunk before he agreed to go along with him to his Canaan residence. “I target dead drunk men who would not be able to make any love and I thought uyu akanga adhakwa. “But he was not that drunk and he caught me. It’s something that can happen,” he said.

Levy said he was operating from Whispers Nite Club when he hooked up with his prey. “I stay in Chitungwiza. I was operating at Whispers in Gazaland when I was caught yesterday,” he said. Asked whether he was of a same sex orientation or not, he said: “Handizvizive zvamave kutaura. Ndinovanyeperaka nhai. All men take me for a lady and that is how I make money. “On a good day, I make something like US$30,” he said.

His dressing, however, caught attention of commuters at OK Machipisa bus terminus when he was about to commute to Chitungwiza. Rank marshals and touts mobbed him demanding to know his sexuality. But Levy seemed not to be moved as he (or is it she) begged for R4 to catch a lift to his Chitungwiza residence.

He even approached H-Metro reporters to assist him with transport, fearing that the chanting mob would beat him up. “Please give me transport from here otherwise these people might beat me. Or just give me R4 to get home,” he said. According to police at Machipisa Police Station, Levy had US$2 in his handbag by the time he was arrested. The amount was US$8 short of the required US$10 fine for his offence.

He was charged with being a public nuisance and fined US$10 for his offence. His bare-footed friend who paid the fine for him at the police station took to the heels when H-Metro approached him. Glen Norah police arrested another man a few months ago after he was caught wearing a dress. Residents had mistaken him for a witch.
