Chinamhora Z R Police officer accused of poking finger in girl's private parts

Constable Brighton Maponda is expected to appear at the Rotten Row magistrate
court to answer to his charges. It is alleged that on August 3 Maponda poked his
fingers into Blessed Mabvuu’s (16) va**na at the police station where she had
been brought on allegations of stealing 59kg of meat from her
employer — Desert Hawk Butchery. Constable
Maponda in turn faces charges of having himself explored her
own-butchery — her special
meat —  using his fingers as prospecting tools!
Maponda was also said to have fondled her breasts while she was asleep at the
police station. Blessed told H-Metro that on the fateful day, Maponda assumed
duty at around 11pm. By then, she had been brought to the station on allegations
that she had failed to account for 59kgs of meat at Desert Hawk butchery.
“I was seated on a chair alone when Maponda approached me. He first touched my
hair, caressing it. I questioned him over his intentions and he responded by
asking me whether I wanted to be his second wife. “I openly told him that I
was not interested in what he was doing and he backed off,” she said.
It appears Maponda’s thirst for love was not immediately quenched thereafter
as he advanced again towards the hapless girl.
“After some minutes, when I fell asleep, he came and forcefully fondled my
breasts and buttocks. “I was very afraid as he was alone in charge office plus
he was threatening to beat me up if I had screamed,” said Blessed.
The lust-driven Maponda’s advances also seemed to have been premeditated as at
around 2am he followed her up to the toilet, where she had gone to relieve
herself. That is where she alleges that he forcefully gave her a finger-bang! He
forced his fingers into her va**na.
Blessed said Maponda first grabbed her hand before lifting her skirt poking his
fingers into her private parts in the process. “We wrestled in the dark until
I managed to escape after some drunken men who were coming from Oliver Mtukudzi
show at Mverechena Hotel arrived at the toilet,” she said.
She said that she then rushed back into the police station soon after the
incident. Blessed said she reported the matter to an officer identified as Chuma
leading to Maponda’s arrest. When H-Metro visited Maponda for a comment in
Chinamhora last week, he was reported to have left home at around 3am for
Buhera.
When contacted on his mobile phone Maponda said that he was travelling to
Buhera. “I am not at work right now. I am travelling to Buhera right now,”
he said. Constable Jeche was reported to be investigating the matter. But,
H-Metro caught him on his mobile after leaving Rotten Row Magistrate’s court
yesterday where his case failed to be heard in court. He said he was being
framed after the girl discovered that she was pregnant.
“Yes I was at the court after this girl lied that I fondled her breast,
buttocks and pocked my fingers into her private parts.
“She is lying. They are all falsehoods,” he said. He however admitted that
the incident occurred at their police station where Blessed had been brought on
theft allegations.
Maponda said that he was happy that Blessed did not say that he had attempted to
rape her. “I am happy that she did not say that I tried to rape her. Otherwise
the case could have been different from what it is today. “So when are you
going to publish the story. I was at the court today (yesterday) but the
complainant failed to turn up.”
The case has therefore not officially been heard in the courts. “We will be
returning to the court tomorrow (today) and it is where the matter will be
summarised,” he said. Investigations by H-Metro revealed that Blessed failed
to raise US$2 for the bus fare from Chinamhora to attend the court hearing.
Blessed’s father, Ishmael, who braved the pain of his water burnt foot to
accompany his daughter for medical examinations, expressed dismay at Maponda’s
conduct considering the nature of his work. “It is a shame that with the
nature of his work, he assaulted my daughter. I am here for the medical
examination- a prerequisite by the court before the trial.
“We have since done the medical examinations and medical affidavit is ready.
We were told the matter will be at the court on Friday but I think it would be
in on Monday” he said. Meanwhile, the cop remains a part of the Old Bill and
is presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, the case has proven to be the
talk of the town and also Chinamhora communal lands where the case of the
alleged ‘beef-thief getting poked beef’ will be followed keenly!
