Woman in court for stabbing husband to death

BEULAH EMMA ZISENGWE (52) the woman suspected of killing her husband, Peter Zisengwe (62), appeared at the Mbare magistrates’ court yesterday

Beulah faced a charge of murder as defined in Section 47 of the code Chapter 9.23. Her request for remand was heard before magistrate Reward Kwenda. According to the request for remand statements, Beulah stabbed her husband with a knife on the chest. The now deceased affectionately known as Gas, sustained a serious stab wound and was taken to Harare Central Hospital where he died. A post mortem was done on August 16.

It said the cause of death was hypovolemic shock and a ruptured artery due to the stab wound. Facts also stated that Beulah was admitting the charge and the knife used was also found. According to the Sworn Statement that was made by Assistant Inspector Khumbulani Maposa, he revisited the scene with Beulah who explained what transpired.

A witness Ngaakudzwe Zisengwe also made indications as to what transpired. Beulah was remanded in custody to September 1. She was represented by Dambudzo Machaya from Thondhlanga and Associates. Upon arrival at the Mbare magistrates’ court, Beulah was flanked by her family who came to console her but they had to leave early as they were going to attend Gas’ burial at Granville Cemetery. The State was represented by Mrs Tambudzai Matsokotere.
