Chitungwiza woman slices off man's reproductive organ

A Chitungwiza woman reportedly severed her husba-nd’s private parts with a bread knife, doused him with paraffin before setting him ablaze in a spine-chilling case of domestic violence.
Farai Mukombwa (35) met his fate on Sunday after he allegedly confronted his wife, Shorai Taruvinga (30), over her alleged infidelity. Taruvinga — who was arrested at a relative’s house — is still assisting police with investigations.
However, family members yesterday said, Taruvinga pulled her husband’s private parts till he collapsed in agony. In an interview at the house where the alleged murder took place yesterday, Mukombwa’s aunt, Mrs Lea Kadumbo, said the enraged woman yanked her husband’s trousers down and chopped off his reproductive organs with a serrated bread knife.
She said Taruvinga then drenched her husband with paraffin before setting him ablaze. Mrs Kadumbo said neighbours came running to inform her that her nephew was burning.
"I rushed to their house and could not believe what I saw. Farai was leaning against the wall with burns and blood all over.
"Some people had put out the fire using sand and Shorai had disappeared," said the devastated aunt.
"I looked for Shorai around the house, but failed to locate her only to come across a bread knife in the bedroom. It was smeared with blood.’’
Mukombwa, she said, could neither move nor talk as his body was charred and when they tried to lift him, his skin peeled off.
"We managed to take him to Chitungwiza hospital and upon arrival we were transferred to Harare Hospital," Mrs Kadumbo said wiping away tears.
She said when doctors resuscitated her nephew, he related what had happened. Mukombwa, however, died in the early hours of Monday morning.
Mrs Kadumbo said the doctors told them that her nephew had not died from the burns, but from the assault with the bread knife. Mukombwa’s younger brother, Iger, said his sibling had told him of Shorai’s alleged promiscuity.
He described Sunday’s events as "inhuman".
Police sources said Taruvinga was arrested on Tuesday at her uncle’s house and will appear in court soon to answer to murder charges. Official police spokespersons could not comment on the matter yesterday as they were said to be tied up in meetings the whole day.
Mukombwa will be buried in Chivhu today.
