Zimbabwe News Online: 72-yr-old land lord hijacks tenant's wife 72-yr-old land lord hijacks tenant's wife ================================================================================ H metro on 09 September, 2010 04:44:00 She is now said to be involved in an affair with their former landlord, John Kusikwemunhu. In an interview with H-Metro, a distraught Nyamutara accused Kusikwemunhu of wrecking his marriage. “Their affair started when I had gone to my parent’s place in Mutare,” said the heart-broken man. “When I came back, I was told that my property had been taken to my sister’s house. “I had been replaced by another tenant in the room I was occupying. I was shocked when I saw my wife coming out of John’s bedroom,” he said. He confessed that he became violent when Martha told him she was having an affair with their landlord — despite the age difference. “I could not control myself so I started breaking the windows at John’s house. They called the police and I was arrested.” Nyamutara said he was still hurt beyond words. “I never thought things would end up like this. To me, John was a father and I never thought that Martha would want to have an affair with an old man like him,” he said. When H-Metro visited the “marriage wrecker” at his residence yesterday, Kusikwemunhu was reading his Bible. The former Martha Nyamutara was sleeping in Kusikwemunhu’s bedroom. Martha confirmed she had divorced Nyamutara and was staying at their former landlord’s house as his wife. “Tony is no longer my husband and I am now staying here,” she said, calmly. She said she had divorced Mr Nyamutara because he was in the habit of wetting his pants in a desperate bid to frustrate her. “He started messing up his pants,” she said. “So, I could not stand that.” The thought of adult diapers in the washing bin probably sent her into a spin. Martha has also accused her former husband of being irresponsible. “I could no longer have him as my husband because he was not providing enough for me and the four children I have with him,” she said. “In fact, that’s the main reason why we divorced.” So it had little to do with John Kusikwemunhu? She accused her former husband of having extramarital affairs. “I finally decided to divorce him because he went away for five months, leaving me and the children while he cohabited with a girlfriend. “I was also afraid of contracting HIV.” Martha denied she had an affair with Kusikwemunhu. “I am his tenant and I am even paying rent every month,” she said Despite her claim, when the H-Metro crew arrived she was sleeping in John’s bedroom. Kusikwemunhu said that he was helping out Nyamutawa on humanitarian grounds. “I am only helping her,” he said. “She is also assisting me with domestic work in return for me keeping her at my house.”
